Are you a desired or commoditized destination?

There’s some research done by Tripadvisor (I can’t seem to find on the interwebs) that shows that consumers will switch to a completely different destination if the right offer is put in front of them on that page. For example somebody looking at a hotel review in one beach town in Spain might choose another instead if the price is better.

This basically means that it makes no difference to the consumer between town A or B. Or in some cases between country A or country B. A beach is beach is a beach. To the consumer the rest is all the same. The destinations are commoditized. Price is the only way to compete. Welcome to the race to the bottom.

Ibiza on the other hand
