I’m writing this as a follow up to a very good post by Troy last week. Troy’s basic premise in his post is that people need the confidence to come visit and they’ll figure the rest out themselves. They don’t need help planning, they need reassurance to overcome uncertainty. I agree. Many of us are fixing the travel planning while consumers don’t want it fixed. They like visiting 20 or 30 or 40 websites to plan a trip. It’s part of the fun. They just want to be confident that things will be ok.
To build on that, people want some confidence in how basic stuff works. Here’s what I would love to see.
- Videos that show me things like how to buy a ticket for public transport. It’s different everywhere and impossible to figure out. Amateur YouTube videos are often the best resource.
You know what I spend time on?
I booked a flight today with Aer Lingus. The tile read “Aer Lingus Travel Advisory – Booking Ref: XX-XXXX”. It got me worried for a minute. What’s wrong?
